Becoming an Air Traffic Controller?

I have been interested in Aviation my whole life. I wanted to be a pilot for so long, the only problem is I cant pay for the flight cost for training. I've been looking into ATC. I am going to attend the University at Buffalo for Computer Engineering this fall. If I do decide I want to become an Air Traffic Controller, should I transfer out of Buffalo after my freshman year and go to an ATC School? Or should I get my 4 year BS Degree first and then pursue ATC? Do I have to have a degree related to ATC to become a controller.

How often do air traffic controllers retire?

I would like to become an ATC next year, but I don't think it's possible. I don't have a degree, but I've read you can become an ATC if you have 3 years of progressive work experience. To my understanding, positions open when workers retire. I read somewhere that there was a shortage at one point and they were just hiring the average joe without a degree (I'm sure they were somewhat selective and didn't just hire anyone). My question is, will there be many people retiring within the next 2 years for there to be a need for ATCs without the degree?

ok to start off me and my mom never had a good relationship. She divorced my Dad because he was an alcoholic we move away from him and she starts drinking and sleeping with a diff guy everyday. Neighbor's fence is across my line?

I purchased my house 4 years ago and I'm friendly with my next door neighbor. I did a survey on my house but I was never able to make the survey. It appears that the neighbor's fence is clearly "over the line" into my property. It is a small 25x100 lot. I believe I have at least a half a foot or very least 6 inches on my side of the house that runs alongside his driveway. I also noticed an old fence post in the ground which indicated the old fence was 6 inches towards his side. Right now I am completely boxed in. Unzipped a .rar file, and now I've got problems.?

I've downloaded a Torrent (Garry Kasparov's How to play the Najdorf vol. 1) (And I torrented because I couldn't find a supplier to buy from before you complain!) And It's torrented successfully as a .rar file. I've unzipped it using Winrar. However because it's a chess video, it should have a chess base viewer alongside the video of Garry Kasparov with his commentary, playing out the moves which he is talking about. When I've opened the rar file these 'Chess files' Which seem to be all the respective parts of the actual chess viewer part of the download as a whole, are all the individual bits. I need them together with the Avi File of Garry kasparov and his commentary, but I can't figure out how to effectively 'Join the Avi file with the Chess base bits' if you see what I mean. I have had the same thing today too despite applying suncream and he is not at all badly burnt but after his bath showed up more flush than normal over his cheeks and nose- he's extremely fair but so far I've always managed to screen him ok. I've just applied aftersun and made sure he was hydrated and his room is cool (has a fan). I've checked on him and he's fast asleep contentedly. I would adminsiter calpol if he complained or seemed uncomfortable but what you have done seems entirely sensible and to keep skin moisturised and him hydrated is the important things. Check on him regularly. I guess both of us will be much more proactive tomorrow!

My husband is ex-navy and trying to apply for an ATC job at an airport. He was an ATC in the navy for 5 years. On the application it says to fill out the FFA-3330 and have a Rating specialist fill it out too. Where can he find a rating specialist, and do you know what else he needs? ATC will cancel your IFR flight plan if you do not answer their instructions... They will ask you if you "heard" their last transmission... But after a while they will just cancel the flight plan.... Having the simulator on time acceleration speeds up that process... Next time ATC asks you to do something, be it change frequencies or headings or altitudes or what not... Slow down the time acceleration, answer their request, then you can speed up time acceleration again. However, if your reaction time is fast enough, you can still answer them while on 16x acceleration... It just takes practice.

You should be fine. AP Classes, volunteering, extra curriculars, and general involvement are the most important things and you have all of them. Just make sure you take the SAT and/or ACT at least twice. I took both of them twice. You should be able to get into the college of your choice!

Anxiety ADHD Overwhelmed?

So tired, went to bed at 8:30, woke up every couple of hours and read to fall asleep. Up at @ 7:30 AM achey and tired. Dranke 2 double lattes, ate banana and rye with cheese. Overcome with anxiety, so went for a short walk. When I got home, the anxiety and grief were even more pronounced. When I exercise, I stop and just cry. If I go to yoga or guided prayer, I often have spontaneous tears. I hate this lifestyle. I avoid exercise, and can't understand the grief anxiety when I DO exercise. This is decades old. How to change? Trying harder--performance (climb mountains, XC, overtime working hours, counseling) don't make me successful or peaceful. Went off ADHD meds about 2 months ago, after about 18 months of trying different combinations...I'm pooped, walking in grief, staving (barely) off desperate. Why do I just stop and cry in the middle of a hike or jog (I cannot go on without just a total breakdown). Alone I can just cry, with friends, I have to stifle this. What will help ME be at peace with ME? Why do I just break down, even during EXERCISE?

You should talk with your school counselor with this. It sounds like you could be successful, but it all depends on what colleges you're going to. Some have strict rules when it comes to what classes they expect their incoming students to have taken and passed. I even know some colleges that are ok with 3 yrs of science and math. It all depends. But I definitely encourage you to talk with the school counselor to have everything straight before you start applying to colleges.

Generally it's pretty straightforward... you read back all of the instructions (not info) that the controller gives you. After "ready to taxi", read back taxi instructions, wait for take-off clearance and switch frequencies when the ground controller tells you to. It's a pretty guided process. Any animal charity fund raising ideas...? please!?

I'm trying to raise money for a local (registered) animal rescue charity. I've sold stuff, begged friends and family to the point of losing them :) , bombarded companies with emails asking for donations, all sorts. This is alongside working full time. I've had a few donations here and there but nowhere near enough for the time invested. I know I'm lucky to get anything for the charity but I need more ideas. They do a lot of hard work and there isn't a single paid worker at the sanctuary. Can anyone think of anything unusual? Anxiety ADHD Overwhelmed?

So tired, went to bed at 8:30, woke up every couple of hours and read to fall asleep. Up at @ 7:30 AM achey and tired. Dranke 2 double lattes, ate banana and rye with cheese. Overcome with anxiety, so went for a short walk. When I got home, the anxiety and grief were even more pronounced. When I exercise, I stop and just cry. If I go to yoga or guided prayer, I often have spontaneous tears. I hate this lifestyle. I avoid exercise, and can't understand the grief anxiety when I DO exercise. This is decades old. How to change? Trying harder--performance (climb mountains, XC, overtime working hours, counseling) don't make me successful or peaceful. Went off ADHD meds about 2 months ago, after about 18 months of trying different combinations...I'm pooped, walking in grief, staving (barely) off desperate. Why do I just stop and cry in the middle of a hike or jog (I cannot go on without just a total breakdown). Alone I can just cry, with friends, I have to stifle this. What will help ME be at peace with ME? Why do I just break down, even during EXERCISE?

You need to reinstall windows. If you can't access your recovery partition then your only option is to do a clean install from a windows disc. I really am having to choose between a career and my friends. Whilst in uni, i had a part-time job stacking shelves, the work was rubbish but i made friends, great friends! I'm someone who struggles to make friends and is often afraid to go out, so these friends really do mean the world to me. However, i have graduated uni and i have a graduate job. Even so i have maintained my part-time job alongside. Why? because as much as i like my graduate job, everyone i work with is some 30 years older and so i'm not making any friends my own age. Can anyone help me get KOTOR working with cheats?

OK guys, so i've already gone through and beaten KOTOR and now i'm playing through again on the PC and added some mods to the Override folder like they tell you to and they seem to work just fine. My problem is that I for some reason cannot get the cheats to enable. I have gone to swkotor.ini and added the line under Game Options: EnableCheats=1 but then it said i didn't have permission to save back in the main folder so instead I ended up saving it in My Documents and then moving it over to the main KOTOR folder. well, now I start the game and it runs fine but i push the ` key (the one left of the 1 key) and nothing happens, I've also tried [ctrl] + ` [alt] + ` [shift] + ` and other combinations as well, however i do not get any console or any area where i can type in the cheat. Does anyone know how to help? I've tried all these combinations on a US English Keyboard setting as well as a UK English Keyboard setting.

If that is honestly the most HARDEST/CHALLENGING/DIFFICULT course load that you can have in your junior year, then yes, it's the best. But, remember that this is the most important year, so you have to make sure you can handle it and that your GPA increases. You may want you GPA to be in the 3.8s by the end so that you will have a better chance, so straight-A's are a must. I got into Brown with a 3.84 and I'm pretty sure it was my volunteer hours and straight A's junior year that saved me. So, make this the most hardest year of your academic life, and then yes, that will be the best course load for Junior year. Good luck!

I went to MEPS about a month ago and spoke with my liaison about my job choices and chose 7 jobs. The subject pretty much sums it up, I'm 23 and was pretty much a loser up until the past year or so with no dreams or aspirations, was terminated from employment a few times, I've never used drugs or really abused alcohol, there's a hit an run on my police record from when I was 18 although I didn't run and was never even cited for the incident, other than that I'm pretty clean and was never convicted of a crime other than a traffic violation. How do you figure out the Variable Cost?

I am taking a college microeconomics class and do not understand how to figure out the variable cost. I found an equation that said VC= FC-BE (fixed cost minus break-even point=Variable Cost) however I learned that the to calculate the BE you look at the lowest Average Total Cost (ATC), but in order to figure out the ATC you do Total cost divided by Quantity, but then I don't know how to do that because I cannot figure out the VC. just curious, why would you keep your dog at someone else place?...anyways, I bought an Australian shep. a year ago. Our horses live at our house and we have a lot of land so my puppy pretty much followed me every where i went (we was leash trained too but he stays right next to me when we are around the farm so its not needed unless we go out) at first he would go to the barn with me and look up at the horses while they were in their stalls. He didn't really know what to think of them at first but after he got use to their presence I picked him up and let them smell each other. they are now literally best friends and even try and eat together out of the same pan lol (trying to break that). We go on trail rides together when we have time and my dog is always at the barn with me. Just slowly and safely introduce them and you will be fine. :) Good luck!

Honestly.. the ATC's had it coming.. for 1 they are considered a luxury and technically they are not even needed .. The pilot alone has the training to take off and land at an airport without one.

I'd choose Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but my opinion is obviously biased as I train and love BJJ. But then again, I believe that BJJ is a very technical martial art unlike some other types of wrestling. I also believe that BJJ would make a good mix for a stand-up art, although I'd train in Kickboxing instead of just Boxing.

I am only 15 and I feel depressed. I have for nearly 3 years, and I hate it. My mom or brother don't understand me, I am different from both of them in a much different way. My dad passed away in January 2009, 16 days after my 13th birthday. I wish I were more like him, I don't want to be like my mom or brother, they have the same personality and different ways of thinking and acting. I don't, I'm feminine and I have a different body shape and my eye color is different. I feel hopeless and upset, and lately it's been getting worse. It was really bad in May, and I don't know what to do. I've tried telling my mom, and none of my friends seem to know what I'm experiencing. I can't get counseling or therapy. I've been molested twice. I live in Michigan, and I think it's best to leave here. I don't want to, I really don't, but staying here is making me absorb all of this negative energy. I'm stressed out and depressed at the same time, the worst combination. My mom tells me to stop acting like a "drama queen" and act more like a "guy". It's just really annoying how she doesn't even understand her own son, it's sad as well. I just don't know what to do...I've been diagnosed with social anxiety and anxiety issues. Not sure how you are getting 100 miles unless you have an external antenna that is high in the air! VHF is very line of sight. Any scanner that receives the aircraft ranges can get ATC and aircraft transmissions as long as the antenna can "see" both ends.

Age discrimination laws?

How can certain jobs (like policemen, air traffic controllers, etc), have upper age limits for potential candidates and not violate federal age discrimination laws? For example, a candidate for becoming an ATC is around 30 years old (for FAA training), and our city police dept. upper age cutoff is 45. At 46, I would guess I am in better shape than 50% of the policemen around here.

Is this workout plan too much?

I'm 15 and I'm trying to get in shape. I'm getting in shape for Football specifically, but I would also just like to look good. I have about 4 to 5 more weeks before school starts again. Right now, we are condition 4 days a week for 2 hours. We workout for an hour and we run for an hour. At home I have this home gym called the bioforce. I'm thinking about following the 8 Week Body Transformation Plan alongside football conditioning. The main reason is because the workouts we do in Football are repetitive and I don't think they are working. With the correct protein intake would I be able to do both of these with significant results? And what protein shake do you recommend? I'm thinking of just getting the EAS 5 pound bag from Sams.

Yes, The Ubuntu install does not touch or otherwise harm the Windows portion at all. I started using Ubuntu nearly 8 years ago... 6 years ago I deleted Windows from all the computers in my home, and use nothing but Linux now... The system just runs so much smoother and has no Virus's to worry about, but I am not a gamer either.

Yeah, it takes an effort to change something that needs to be changed, but what she did was entirely unacceptable, and if you don't take it up she will abuse others the same way or maybe even worse thinking that she can get away with it. You are now afraid of speaking up because she might give you a bad grade in retaliation? She shouldn't be there to give anybody grades in the first place, and worrying about how she might retaliate is part of the cycle that will keep her abusing children. If a teacher thinks a child is dressed inappropriately the *only* acceptable behavior is to write her up and send her to the principal's office to be disciplined accordingly. She assaulted you in front of witnesses, you shouldn't even bother to take your mom to talk to her, you should get a lawyer, press charges, and take your mom to talk to the principal. I want to join the British Army as an Infantry Soldier but i don't know how to tell my parents i want to?!?

I am 15, 2 months old and i have wanted to join the Army as an Infantry Soldier. I have massive experience as a Corporal at the Air Training Corps in Wokingham. I have seen the closest Careers place in Reading. Which i tried to get my mum and dad to spot it.. so i got my little brother to tell them 'Jadon wants to join the army' but they took no intrest in it. So i have left a few tabs out on my PC so for when they come to pick it up they'll see what i want to do. For the Infantry you dont need any qualifications (grades) or anything, so i am half way there (i have an average A in english and a B in ICT and i am qualified in weaponry at the ATC. I have got off road driving qualifications and first aid qualified. I am fit fo my age (49 kg) and i am dislexic (but i dont think that'l make a difference to my want to be career) Buttttt i have a weenie problem it is my parents they only wanted me to join ATC as a fun out of school hobbie, but i have got into it sooo much that i want to join the forces. My mum and dad are worried about me (well i dont know) but i think that they will not let me join as an infantry soldier :( i need help of sneeky ways to get them to the careers office?!
